About Us

Alison Hadlow - VI degree

Alison has run Taekwon-do schools for many years and draws on her experiences as both a qualified teacher and a personal trainer, to motivate and develop her students. She started Taekwon-do at University in 1991 and was hooked from the first lesson! She first competed for England in 1997 at the European Championships in Slovenia. Later that year, she became World Champion, when she won a gold medal in breaking at the World Championships in St Petersburg, Russia. She went on to compete for her country and Great Britain, winning further medals at European and World Championships. Having had three children in quick succession she returned to competing and was selected to represent England at the World Championships in Poland, where the female team won a bronze medal. After having her fourth daughter, Alison decided that she needed a new challenge so returned to squad training and was selected to go to the World Championships in Russia in 2009. Since then she has won further medals at European Championships, including overall Veteran Lady Champion at the European Championships in Estonia in 2011.

Alison was appointed as one of the England coaches in 2011 and then went back to competing for England and trained hard for the 2014 ITF European Championships in Italy, though injury forced her to miss out. She was promoted to 6th degree in September 2019 by Grand Master Nardizzi 9th degree.

Simon Hadlow - VI degree

Simon started his Taekwon-do career in 1993, training in the WTF full contact style. After a break he switched to ITF Taekwon-do in 2001, preferring the more rounded approach it gave to his learning, with a deeper understanding of the philosophy behind it. He gained his black belt in 2003 and opened his first school in 2005. Having reached 4th degree in 2009, he started training with the England squad as a veteran and was selected to represent his country at the 2011 European Championships in Estonia, where he won gold in patterns and was of part of the team that achieved the overall Veteran Cup. Since then he has gone on to gain several medals at European and World Championships, most notably a silver medal at the World Championships in 2012.

Simon continues to enjoy teaching and learning the art of Taekwon-do, grading to 6th degree in October 2018 under Grand Master Nardizzi 9th degree.
